What to do, When the Pellet Machine Blocked

When the ring die of pellet machine is blocked, it takes a lot work to clean up the holes. Some clients use electric drill to clean the ring die, but it’s slowly and may do harm for the ring die. In big pellets plant usually has special tools to solve this problem, but for whom without tools, can try this method.

Put the clocked ring die into a metal container and fill in waste machine oil, heat the container until hears crackling sound. Then stop heating, wait the temperature goes down and put the ring die back on the machine. Start pellet machine and can make the blocks come out.

Why cause pellet machine’s ring die blocked?

1. Wrong moisture. Both higher and lower moisture makes ring die blocked. Arrange the dryer or add correct water to achieve suitable moisture (usually 10-15%), will avoid it.
2. The fixing blocks or rollers are severely worn. Fixing blocks and rollers are wearing parts, these parts should be changed after their service life. When the fixing blocks and rollers are worn, should replace a new one.
3. The raw material and compression ratio of the ring die are mismatch. For different raw material using different compression ratio. For vertical type pellet machine, the compression ratio is not as strict as horizontal type, but if change raw material the compression ratio may be not suitable. We ask every new client to send us raw material for testing the compassion ratio. If client change another kinds of raw material, we still offer free testing service. If the raw material are mixed, and the percent is not fixed, we will suggest to prepare several ring die with different compression ratio for the pellet machine. If the material is not discharged, check the compression ratio of the ring die. If it is not suitable, replace the ring die.
4. The material has high crude fiber content – it means you bought a wrong pellet machine. For different usage, should choose different type and model, also the motor may different. That’s why feed pellet machine can’t produce wood pellets, although their structure is similar. Before purchasing a pellet machine, user can talk with factory and better sending material to factory. Then can avoid problem in 3 and 4.
5. The gap between ring die and roller is not suitable (usually is big). Can adjust the gap by the screw.
6. In the pellet machine remains material from the last production. After production, there will be some materials remains in the machine, if not clean up and stopped for a long time, the material will become hard during next work. The method is to clean up the remained material.
